Privacy Policy

Contuitus (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we handle it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We keep data collection deliberately minimal.

• Newsletter email address. If you subscribe, we collect the email address you provide. It is given voluntarily and used only to send the newsletter you asked for.
• Privacy-respecting analytics. We record basic, aggregate page-view data — the page path, a coarse referrer host and a country code. We do not store your IP address, your user-agent string, or any advertising or tracking cookies.

How the newsletter works

Our newsletter runs on Kit (ConvertKit), an email service that stores the subscriber list and sends the emails on our behalf. When you subscribe we use double opt-in: you receive a confirmation email and are only added once you click to confirm. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. When you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of reputable service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Kit (ConvertKit) — newsletter list management and email delivery.
• Cloudflare — website hosting, security and content delivery.
• Supabase — storage of site content (articles, projects). It does not store your newsletter subscription.

Some of these providers may process data outside Australia. We only use providers we consider to offer appropriate protection.

How we use your information

We use your email address solely to send the newsletter and, where necessary, to respond to you. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Retention

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, it is removed from the active list. Aggregate analytics are retained only as long as needed to understand how the site is used.

Your rights

Under the APPs you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. The fastest way to remove your email is the unsubscribe link in any newsletter. For anything else, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information.
